Who we are

Created, written and illustrated by me.

Hello. I’m Emma.

I’m a graphic designer with a love of illustration and the natural world. Having spent the last 20 years doodling and sketching animals (especially birds) I really focused my practice during 2020 towards illustrating for children.

After graduating, some of my first projects were illustrated LOTE Educational Resources, I now have come full circle. I have always loved working in black and white line which lends itself to colouring books really well. But, I didn’t want to make something that just looks good – I wanted something useful too. So, I added some written information about the animals I was featuring.

And that is how the Educational Colouring Books were born. I am currently drawing and writing busily to expand the range with a whole number of different animals and plants.

I live in Melbourne Australia with my partner and two daughters.

Clear simple language

Our descriptions and species information are written in clear simple language. They are suitable for primary school age children. The content is suitable for all primary school grades, but for independent reading we recommend ages 7+.

Visual learners

Our colouring books bring the natural sciences in a way young children can explore and enjoy. The written words are simply enough to be read aloud to younger children, and read independently by older primary school students.

We have started with Australian animals, as they are what we know and love. But we are open to other flora and fauna of the whole world. With so much to choose from, we had to start somewhere!
